Managing Document Lifecycles
A documents lifecycle is controlled by the attributes State and Phase
State
The attribute State controls the lifecycle status. The Document States in YaPlm are:
In Work - The document is in editable mode
Checked In - Approved working copy. The document is locked
Released - Approved. The document is locked
Obsolete - Out of date. No longer used.
Phase
The Phase attribute controls for which purpose a document is Released. For example a drawing can be approved for producing a prototype but it is not allowed to use the drawing in serial production. The standard Phases in YaPlm are:
Preliminary - The document is preliminarily approved
Production - The document is approved for production

Document Lifecycle
The default document lifecycle operations are:
Check In – To approve a working copy
Check Out – To create a new version of a working copy
New Revision – To create a new revision of an approved object
Release – To approve an object
Start Process - Starts an Approval Process, refer to Process
